FrontPage Project travels to Vienna

With a large turnout and praise, the FrontPage Project” was completed.

 

The group art exhibition, with the unique look at the Aesthetics of Information, entitledThe Art of News“, was presented in one of the important historical buildings of the city, the “Melina” Cultural Center, of the Municipality of Athens, from 7 to 11 June 2023.

 

The central theme is the interaction and collaboration of artists and journalists around the Front Page in print and electronic media.

The project was an initiative of the European Communication Institute (ECI), in collaboration with the Athens Macedonian News Agency (AMNA) and the open art group AxionArt, with the additional synergy of the Video Art Festival and the support of academic institutions, including Donau-Universitat Krems (DUK).

The exhibition was curated by:

The Botsis Foundation, the Association of European Journalists, the Athena Research Centre and the Association of Journalists of Periodical Press Owners are among the supporters.

 

The Mayor of Athens, Costas Bakogiannis, as well as other eminent personalities from the world of art and communication, politicians and journalists, as well as a large number of people had the opportunity to see the works of the 55 participants from Greece and the world.

 

The exhibits are original, created around the central idea of the “first page”, the “first news”. Among the creators are resounding names of artists, photojournalists and video artists.

During the exhibition, there were parallel activities: Video art screenings, performances, interviews of visual artists, as well as the open discussion on the relationship between communication and art, with the participation of C. Kampourakis, D. Davveta, V. Tsianika, D. Petropoulos, D. Chalkides, Th. Manda and M. Nottas.

 

 

The “FrontPage Project” is an ongoing research project, which will move to Vienna in 2024.
