Emmanouel Polychronides

 

 

Emmanuel Polychronidis is an instructor of rhetoric and a political scientist. He has completed studies with distinction in Political Science and Public Administration at the University of Athens at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels and with distinction in Economics at the undergraduate level at Deree College, in which he was very actively involved in British Parliamentary Debating. He competed with international distinctions and was a judge in numerous student debate competitions in Greece and abroad.

 

He apprenticed for many years in the Rhetoric Circle of Giannis Andrianatos, has apprenticed in Storytelling with Stelios Pelasgos, and has attended experiential seminars in Theatrical Improvisation with Menelaos Prokos and in Drama Therapy with Antigone Christophorou. He has been an active member of the Boards of two Toastmasters adult speaking groups and a regular viewer of TEDx conferences and TED.com talks.

 

He worked in several private schools as a Rhetoric Instructor in Greek and in English (Arsakeia – Tositseia Schools, MoraitisSchool, Doukas Schools, Ekpedeftiki Anagennisi) and since 2016 he has been in charge of Rhetorical Activities at Ionios School as a rhetoric instructor in Greek and debate / MUN in English to elementary, middle and high school students, and as a trainer for teachers and professors in presentation and public speaking techniques.

 

He has coached student debating teams in public and private schools. He has trained adult judges in many parts of Greece as a member of the organizing committee of the Interschool Rhetoric Competitions of the Philekpedeftiki Etairia and as a member of the Committee of Judges of the Panhellenic Student Argumentation – Debating Competitions of the Ministry of Education. He was a scientific advisor and judge on the ET1 TV show “Logomachies” (2005-6), a youth trainer at the Youth Forum of the International Debating Education Association (I.D.E.A.) in Trest, Czech Republic (2007), a member of the organizing committee and a speaker trainer at the first TEDxAthens (2009) and trainer of trainers in Argumentation and Public Speaking at TRAINING DEBATE AND ARGUMENTATION TRAINERS IN SOUTHEAST EUROPE of the International Debating Education Association (I.D.E.A.) in Belgrade, Serbia (2015). He has presented scientific papers on debating, argumentation, and rhetoric at international conferences and has organized numerous trainings in rhetorical skills and competitions.

 

He collaborated with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for the first two Political Thought Seminars (2013-2014) and since 2013 he has been collaborating with the Certificate In Negotiations of the Athens University of Economics and Business teaching Rhetorical Art for Negotiations. Since 2017, he has taught presentation techniques and public speaking techniques at the National School of Public Administration and Self-Government and Persuasion and Argumentation at the Training Institute of the National Center for Public Administration and Self-Government.

 

Before the Covid pandemic, he founded and coordinated for 5 years public speaking groups in public elementary and high schools, training professionals, parent groups, and students in the art and technique of public speaking, part of which activities he continued through the Zoom platform by creating the online group High School Plus for 5th/5th grade, 1st/2nd/3rd junior high school, and 1st/2nd high school students as well as adult online groups, organizing at the end of each year one Rhetorical Performance.  

 

He is a founding member of the Hellenic Union for the Promotion of Rhetoric in Education and a member of the Hellenic Scientific Association of Adult Education, has Pedagogical and teaching competence, having completed the EPAIK program of ASPAITE (2020) and is a Certified Trainer of Adults in Informal Education (2022).

 

He co-organized with his wife and coordinated in 2014, at the Divani Apollon Hotel in Kavouri, an international scientific conference with speakers from the USA, Denmark, and Greece entitled “The Value of Rhetorical Art Today”.
