Very Revd. Dr. Aristarchos-Vasilios Gkrekas

Clergyman of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens.

Dr. of Theology – Assistant Professor at the Department of Theology of the Theological School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

Very Revd. He is a graduate of the Arsakeio Pedagogical Academy of Patras and the Pedagogical Department of Primary Education of the National Kapodistrian University of Athens, Bachelor degree. From the Department of Theology of the Faculty of Theology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki he received a Bachelor, MSc and Ph.D.

In the United Kingdom, from Durham University, he received a Master’s degree (MSc) in International Relations entitled: “Conflict Prevention Sustainable Peace and Security”. He also successfully completed programs at Oxford University and Cambridge University.

In the United States of America, he successfully completed program at Georgetown University – School of Foreign Service and two programs at Harvard University – Kennedy School.

He has settled for about twenty years on Mount Athos.

He has taught for ten years in primary education.

From 2015 to 2019 he taught at the Higher Ecclesiastical Academy of Athens on secondment and as EDIP. He teaches in schools of the Security Forces, the Armed Forces.

He has published six books and articles in journals, in Greek and English, with theological content and in international relations. He has organized and participated as a speaker at international conferences and workshops.

Scholarships

He has received scholarships from the Greek State Scholarships Foundation (IKY), Erasmus and Georgetown University in the United States.
