{"id":12521,"date":"2022-05-31T18:02:16","date_gmt":"2022-05-31T15:02:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eci-org.eu\/?p=12521"},"modified":"2022-06-01T00:49:20","modified_gmt":"2022-05-31T21:49:20","slug":"language-and-neuroscience-at-the-athena-research-center","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eci-org.eu\/?p=12521&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"Language and Neuroscience at the Athena Research Center"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The series of seminars of the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.athenarc.gr\/\"><b>Athena Research Center (ARC)<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a Statutory Partner of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/eci-org.eu\/?lang=en\"><b>European Institute of Communication<\/b><\/a>, <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">continues with an extremely interesting speech by Professor <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.engineering.columbia.edu\/faculty\/christos-papadimitriou\"><b>Dr. Christos Papadimitriou<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr. Papadimitriou, Professor of Columbia University and member of the scientific council of ARC&#8217;s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.athenarc.gr\/el\/news\/archimedes-nea-monada-ekathina\"><b>Artificial Intelligence Unit &#8220;Archimedes&#8221;<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, analyzes<\/span> <b>&#8220;How the brain creates Language&#8221;<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, in a speech in which Neuroscience meets Computer Science and Language Science. <\/span> <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The speech is part of the extroversion pursued by the Centre&#8217;s research ecosystem. Dr. Papadimitriou will have the opportunity to present <\/span><b>Assembly Calculus<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a new programming language for translating neural aggregation activity into concepts and words, as well as an English syntactic analyzer, which works exclusively by firing neurons and synapses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr. Papadimitriou, MIT professor <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/people.csail.mit.edu\/costis\/\"><b>Dr. Konstantinos Daskalakis<\/b><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and professor of RMIT University of Australia <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imsi.athenarc.gr\/el\/people\/member\/12\"><b>Dr. Timos Sellis<\/b><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">constitute the scientific core of the research structure &#8220;Archimedes&#8221;, which covers the three thematic &#8211; driving forces of the fourth industrial revolution which -in turn- is connected with the scientific interests of ECI. Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Algorithms are inextricably linked to research, innovation and language applications, leading to applied technologies that improve the everyday life of the citizen. The Unit operates as a hub for the cooperation of distinguished Greek academics working abroad, while building collaborations with universities and researchers in Greece and abroad. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The speech takes place <\/span><b>tomorrow, Wednesday, June 1st 2022, at 16:00<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, in the Zampolli Hall of the ARC building in Maroussi and online, via ZOOM.
