Professor of Informatics at the University of Athens and member of the Board of Directors of the <\/span>European Institute of Communication<\/span><\/i><\/a> , <\/span>Yannis Ioannidis<\/b><\/a> is the new president of the <\/span>Association for Computing Machinery<\/b> (ACM)<\/b><\/a> for the next two years. <\/span><\/b> <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The former president of the <\/span>Athena Research Center<\/span><\/i><\/a> is a member of ACM, the largest association of scientists and IT professionals in the world, since 1983. <\/span> <\/p>\n <\/p>\n He has previously held administrative positions in the international organization:<\/span><\/p>\n Yannis Ioannidis has published more than 160 articles in leading journals and conferences and holds three patents. He is the coordinator of the projects and the head of the legal entity <\/span>OpenAIRE<\/span><\/i><\/a>, which implements European policies for open access to research publications and data. He serves as software director in the flagship European initiative <\/span>Human Brain Project<\/span><\/a>, being a coordinator or partner in dozens of other European research and innovation projects. <\/span> <\/p>\n <\/p>\n He has led the creation of new international companies and spin-offs. <\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Fellow of the scientific organization <\/span>IEEE<\/span><\/i><\/a>, a member of <\/span>Academia Europaea<\/span><\/i><\/a>, he has been honored with the <\/span>ACM SIGMOD Contributions Award<\/b> and is the recipient of other research and teaching awards. <\/span> <\/p>\n <\/p>\n He is a member of the executive board and a national representative of Greece at the <\/span>European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI)<\/span><\/i><\/a>.<\/span> <\/p>\n <\/p>\n\n
