Culture in International Dialogue by Diplomat (EEAS-EU) Dennis Daniilidis
The European Communication Institute has the pleasure of the Diplomat Mr. Denis Daniilidis, Head of Political, Press and Information Section of the European External Action Service (EEAS) joining its academic staff, as of 2020.He is responsible for issues of Cultural Management & Cultural Diplomacywithin the framework of the Institute’s Interdisciplinary Programme.
A European Union official with more than 30 years of experience in the EU institutions, Mr. Daniilidis focuses particularly on political analysis, communication and public diplomacy. He has served in Kiev (Ukraine), Caracas (Venezuela), Moscow (Russian Federation), Astana (Kazakhstan), Ashgabad (Turkmenistan) and Baku (Azerbaijan).
As of September 2022, he is assigned to Quito, Ecuador as Head of the Political, Press and Information Department. He also held positions at EEAS headquarters, with a particular focus on the former Soviet Union and Latin America.
As part of the courses, which will be held under his supervision, live from Ecuador, the Institute will welcome Mr. Daniilidis’ special guests, distinguished personalities from all over the world, such as:
- Dr. Hatice Yazgan, Professor of European Studies at the University of Cankiri, who will give us the surrounding atmosphere in pre-election Turkey, regarding the EU and its relations with Greece.
- Matthieu Haag, director, who will talk to us about Culture and Traditions, through his personal journey.
- Marco Pucci Catena, theatre director, director of the classical opera company Mala Compania.
- Dr. Efstathios Stefos, professor at UNAE University (Cuenca, Ecuador), who specializes in educating indigenous cultures of Ecuador.
- Gonzalo Celi, Chrysostomos, Orthodox Archbishop of Ecuador, who will share with us his fascinating experiences in the region.
- Xavier Solano, director, founder of Memory Lab, a tool for integrating immigrants, through cinematic discourse.
- Claudio Franco, musician, founder of the first band Bossa Nova of the Caucasus.
- Alina Poliakova, editorial director of the English-language section of the newspaper Ukrainska Pravda, who will talk to us about the course of the newspaper and the coverage of current affairs in times of war. The newspaper is intertwined with Ukraine’s western course over the past 20 years.
The European Communication Institute considers it an honor to contribute to the understanding of International Cultural Dialogue with Modules of special value, which are also open to registrants of the Citizen Literacy Initiative implemented in co-organization with the European Parliament Office in Greece.
